DIGITAL REALMS
A 3D ANIMATION PROJECT
Project details
Storytelling in the Age of AI
This animation marks my inaugural foray into AI-driven production, born from a fundamental question: what is the true utility of artificial intelligence in creative media? The answer, I realized, lies in its power to amplify storytelling. Seeking a narrative with historical depth, I delved into the Memorial University archive database. Navigating through extensive, year-categorized records, I unearthed a classic Jack tale, meticulously transcribing and adapting it into the foundation for this visual exploration.
From Archive to Screen
Adapting the archival transcript meant more than just adding dialogue tags. It required a complete rewrite to fix inconsistencies in the original folktale and build a pace that works on screen. With the script locked, the next challenge was execution. After testing traditional 3D pipelines like motion capture and manual modeling, I ultimately chose an AI-generation approach to bring this world to life.
Stylized Motion and Sound
While my later work leans on Grok for live-action realism, this project demanded a different engine. I selected Google's Veo 3.1 specifically for its capacity to generate exaggerated, highly stylized 3D animation. However, the visual ambition is anchored by a deeply intentional soundscape. I carefully adapted Camille Saint-Saëns's 'The Swan,' reimagining its tempo and rhythm to mirror the narrative of our swan maiden protagonist. By fusing a timeless classical melody with a modern, driving beat, the final cut elevates a traditional folktale into an immersive cinematic experience.
